REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE

Mike Jones

Born and raised in York County, Mike grew up in Dallastown in a two bedroom apartment with his parents and brother.  Mike saw first hand what hard work looks like, observing his father work countless hours as a machinist, often returning home with the aches and pains associated with demanding physical labor.  Mike attributes his mother with building his faith in Christ, by reading him the Bible at a young age and living out a life of faith, kindness, and generosity.

Like his father, Mike learned early to appreciate and value hard work, starting his first job at 15, picking fruit in the summer, and later delivering papers and washing dishes.  He attended Dallastown High School where he played baseball and football and excelled academically.  Mike was a member of the school’s first county championship baseball team in 50 years, was President of his senior class, won the prestigious Quarterback Club of York scholarship, and was awarded a full scholarship to attend DeVry University in Columbus, OH. In College he graduated first in his class and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology (BSEET).

In 1992 Mike married his wife, Julie (Anderson) Jones.  Julie is a stay-at-home mom and volunteers at the Red Lion food bank. She and Mike have four (4) children, all adopted from Russia.  All four graduated from or attend Dallastown.

Abby (22) earned her cosmetology degree and lives in California where she is pursuing her career as a hair stylist.  Hayden (19) is a sophomore at Valley Forge Military College where he is enrolled in the Early Commissioning Program on a full ROTC scholarship.  Lydia (18) is a senior at Dallastown and a member of the varsity soccer and track teams.  Trevor (15) is a sophomore, plays soccer, runs track, and participates in the school's music program.

After college Mike went to work for a military contractor in Northern Virginia.  In 1994, he and Julie returned York when Mike had the opportunity to work for St. Onge Company, a world renowned supply chain consulting and engineering firm. St. Onge is headquartered in York, and is one of the region's premier employers.  Mike worked for St. Onge for the next 23 years, where he had the opportunity to travel the world, working with Fortune 500 companies, many of the world’s largest multinational corporations, and hundreds of other highly respected organizations, including such household names as Johnson & Johnson, ExxonMobil, Lowe’s, Alcoa, AutoZone, Kraft Foods, and Procter & Gamble.

With the opportunity afforded him by the founders of the company, and the help of many great employees, Mike was able to leverage the firm’s world class reputation to lead the formation of a new practice in the area of Supply Chain Strategy.  That initiative grew to the point where St. Onge now has one of the top two or three such practices in the world.

In January of 2006 Mike was honored to be named President of St. Onge, a position he held for eleven (11) years until his retirement in January of 2017.  During that time St. Onge more than doubled in size, grew to 120 employees, was named one of the world’s Top 100 Supply Chain Partners seven (7) times, appeared multiple times on the Central Penn Business Journal’s list of the 50 fastest growing companies in the region, and was named to Inc. Magazine’s 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies in the country each of the past three years.

Mike’s time at St. Onge not only allowed him to grow as a leader, but to learn from many others, as well as from his mistakes.  The opportunity to work on five (5) continents, including projects in China, Japan, Australia, Mexico, Brazil, The Middle East, and most of Western Europe, not only gave him a breadth of experience and perspective, but also a deep appreciation for the virtues of America and American free market capitalism, and how they work together to make our country the strongest, most generous, and greatest nation in the world.

In March of 2017, during a tour of the state capital hosted by Senator Scott Wagner, Mike was inspired to run for office when he heard a speaker say that for the vast majority of legislators in Harrisburg “this is the best job they will ever have” and that “we need people in Harrisburg who don’t want to be here” because they have better things they could be doing.  While York County is blessed with many great representatives, Mike realized that sadly most in Harrisburg are busy protecting their job rather than doing their job.  This is unacceptable.

Along with his years of leadership and business experience, Mike will bring work ethic, humility, and integrity to the State House.  Most importantly, he will continually push for a Return to Citizen Government, specifically, term limits, restrictions on personal gifts from lobbyists, and a part time legislature like those employed by 40 other states. To that end, Mike is already leading by example, having signed a pledge to support term limits, to not accept personal gifts from lobbyists, and to refuse a government pension and per diems.

Please join Mike and his broad base of supporters on our journey to Harrisburg…
and our Return to Citizen Government.
